It Rained 7 Times As We Biked to Real

The weather was so unpredictable; sunshine one moment, then heavy rains next. That characterized our ride to Real.  It rained 3x going to Real, 3x going back and very heavy rain in Bugarin.  However, the rains made the ride very cool and pleasant.  I liked it.

Why Real Men?

First of all we biked to Real, Quezon.

Second, we biked approximately l00 km one way without back up vehicle or logistics. Out and back that is 200 km, and equivalent ride to Baguio, or a good length lap in Tour de France.

Third, the route was for Real Men Really.  20 km going up to km l00 without recovery; the same going back. That is twice the length of Bugarin.  Only Real Men can do that.

Do we need to say more?  I feel I am a more complete rider after completing this feat.

The Real Men Last Aug 29, 2011

Have bike, we will help save the earth…

I joined the Real Men in their ride to where else? Real Quezon last August 29,20ll. There were four of us: Alan, Gerry, Weng, and I. There were other guys we met at 7:00 am at Maybancal. But they were not Real Men. They were JJ men (jalajala men) and could not bear the idea of riding l00 km out and back. without any back up/team vehicle.

We were at Bugarin by 8:00 am and at Famy by 9:00 am.

We were at Km l00 by about ll:00 and at Llavac at ll:30. We had lunch at ll:30 to l2;00. We were down at Famy by 2:00 pm (a much faster and shorter ride) We were at Mabitac by 2:40, and at Bugarin by 300 pm. I was in Angono by 5:l5.

We experienced 3 rains going up to Real; 3 rains going down, and l heavy rains at Bugarin

Until today, all my body is painful and sore. It was a real ride for real men.  I could not imagine myself doing it.  Most of our far away distance ride had team vehicle.  Yesterday, we did not have any.  We thought we would have it overnight – but we had commitments.

The Sierra Madre Ride of Aug 21, 2011 was the Most Challenging

I was able to start this blog late because I have sore thighs legs and body from the bike ride today. It is more challenging (more difficult) than either Baguio or Atimonan ride.

First there was this Lawis thing (like Lawin would be more appropiate for Hawk) It is about 3 km uphill continuous ride uphill with no break or recovery. And then the two hills: Antipolo and Mary Hills. You could have quit on any of the two hills. One actually walked. He was in front of me. But I didnt. The Lawis is longer than Tikling to Beverly Hills; the hill climb is more difficult than Valley Golf. By the time we were in Foremost, Carden Cottages and Bureau of Soils we were beat up and ready to quit. (I heard this from other bikers. I too nearly did that; except that I am not a quitter)

It is sad to note that the brother of Maste Edwin died climbing Sierra Madre. So we should not force the issue when we are really tired and fatigued
